The Home Office encourage the use of Identification Document Validation Technology (IDVT) as a way to quickly and easily help companies establish the authenticity of identity documents.

All employers must check that prospective employees are entitled to work in the UK before employing them. Employers must check original identity documents with the prospective employee present to ensure that the document belongs to the presenter. Furthermore, employers must take and keep copies of the documents and record the date you made the check. If you employ an illegal worker and cannot show that you carried out the correct Right to Work check you could face a civil penalty.

Landlords and their agents are faced with a similar criterion and many organisations have to carry out checks for anti-money laundering (AML) and Know Your Client (KYC) purposes. Employers, landlords and their agents must carry out the same checks on all staff regardless of their nationality. For example, only carrying out checks on some staff but not all could leave employers open to accusations of discrimination.

There are many forms of IDVT to designed to suit the needs of different users. Some integrate with other data sources, some perform imposter checks, some can read different security features and perform complex tasks, however Passport Proven is an Identity Document Validation System (IDVT) that has been designed for any business and is especially useful for those organisations who recruit from multiple sites.

Passport Proven does not need any specialist scanners or other specialist equipment it is a cloud based solution that can be used by anyone anywhere.
